Lotus Modern Thai Restaurant on Staunton Street has delicious Thai tapas, creative cocktails, nice service and a good vibe. This restaurant, which relocated recently from Pottinger street, has a very simple modern loft-style design.

It has exposed brick walls painted white and the large windows are framed in black metal. The open front and high ceilings makes the place look very spacious as well as making it a great spot for people-watching. Aside from the space efficient stools in the restaurant, there is also an alfresco bench where you can sit down and have a few cocktails while watching people going up and down the escalator.

The cocktails, which are made with fresh fruits and deliciously done, are divine. On Wednesday, there's a popular ladies night featuring complimentary raspberry bellinis for the ladies!

Opened fairly recently, the restaurant has already become many people’s favorite. At lunch time, the place is packed. A lunch set cost from $68 to $128 but their Lunch Buffet ($128) is the most popular item. The buffet menu offers more than 30 contemporary Thai tapas dishes to choose from and is changed weekly. All the dishes included in the buffet menu are not pre-cooked but freshly made. Their signature dishes include Authentic Tom Yam, Pad Thai and Hainan Chicken Rice. Other popular items include Smoked Trout betal leaf with dried shrimp, galangal, chili and ocean trout roe, Turmeric Pepper Fried Squid with nahm pla prik, Salad of crispy Salmon with watermelon, mint, thai basil and roasted chili dressing, Phaneng Curry of slow braised Wagyu beef cheek with Thai basil and chili and Whole Crispy Barramundi with three flavor sauce. Their Mango Sticky Rice is also a must-try item.

Lotus is also a relaxing spot for weekend brunch.
