ARUN THAI
Arun Thai is an upscale Thai restaurant specialising in modern, yet classic Royal Thai cuisine. It's located in the newest mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, K11. Co-owned by multi-award-winning Australian Celebrity Chef and restaurateur Chef Kham Signavong, Arum Thai boasts an array of exquisite Thai dishes.
The décor of Arun Thai, like the concept for the menu, is modern with a traditional twist. The restaurant uses a dark coloured palatte with various textures to create a contemporary vibe. The color scheme matches very well with the red bar stools and red light fixtures on the ceiling. The seating area is quite spacious, creating a comfortable environment for fine-dining. Arun Thai also has an outdoor terrace that makes it an ideal place for intimate dining and people watching.
Their menu is extensive, including dishes made with various kinds of fresh seafoods, meats and vegetables. We start with Yum Hu Pee, a salad with chicken, king prawns, chilli, cashew nuts and the special banana flower. It is very fresh and is perfect to start a meal with. We also had Klua Kling Gai Tad as our main. It is stir fried chicken with lime leaves with hot southern chili paste. It is quite hot, so be careful if you cannot take too much spice. Personally, we find the flavors in this dish to be well balanced. The is chicken tender and the lime matches with the rich chili paste surprisingly well.
The place also has an extensive wine list, making it fairly easy to find a bottle to compliment your dishes.

I have been to Kham's sister restaurant (Arun Thai) in Sydney many times. It is fabulous. I can't wait to visit his new restaurant next time I am in Hong Kong. Kham also has a brand new cookbook out called 'Sai Mae Nam' which looks fantastic – I am sure he will be featuring many of these new recipes and some of his old favourites at his latest restaurant. Getting hungry just thinking about it! Thai anyone!
