THE GREEN WAFFLE DINER

Its name says it all. The Green Waffle Diner is a diner focusing on waffles with a healthy twist. The place is a bit canto-European both on its menu and décor but it is a good option if you crave for waffle or some budget and healthy all-day-breakfast on days you fancy something sweet.

The place has an overwhelmingly extensive A-3 size menu that you can feel quite lost at first gaze. Special Waffles alone there are 7 combos and you also get 5 types of waffles to choose from. We love their whole wheat waffle which is very healthy so you don’t have feel so guilty eating the sugary bite. They also do gluten-free waffle for people who are allergic to gluten. We believe these two special waffles alone will draw hard-core fans. Also, Green Waffle Diner opens until 4am during weekends. Bet they are trying to draw some late night diners from the Flying Pan.

On the day of reviewing we are trying their all day breakfast menus. We have the Katherine’s Breakfast (Muesli and fruits with yogurt and a small-size green waffle) and the Sunshine Breakfast (sausages, toasted bread, hash brown, scrambled eggs and a small-size classic waffle). The Katherine breakfast is average – well, you can’t really go wrong with Muesli and fruits with yogurt as long as all the ingredients are fresh. The green waffle is made of Pandan and it tastes lighter than expected, but quite tasty and good for people who prefer not-so-sweet dessert. The Sunshine Breakfast looks quite canto-European and it sort of looks like something you would get in a HK-style café. We wouldn’t say it’s bad but it’s just “interesting” for a westerner. The classic waffle is not very sweet neither and it tastes like a pancake so you will have to use a lot of syrup. Both sets are around $70, fair for the quality of the food we’d say.
