LA BAGUETTE

With a name like ‘La Baguette’ – you might think this eaterie in K town was a French café but no, La Baguette serves Italian food and bistro favorites like pizza, burgers and pasta.

La Baguette's exterior is invitingly sleek, and inside you'll find a modern decor complete with red and black mosaic tiles with lazy jazz music echoing off them.

The people here are generally Kennedy town residents who have made this a regular dining spot or 20 somethings off for a quick business lunch. The staff, though small, is quite efficient. You feel like you’re in a for a nice casual dining experience once you’ve settled opposite its semi-open kitchen.

We started our meal with the fresh oven baked bread. There was a great selection of tempting menu items, from foie gras with duck breast to Emmental cheese burger to Pizza Margherita to prime ribs. The menu isn’t particularly innovative, but sometimes it is better to stick to what's safe and excel at making those dishes stand out. This is  the case at La Baguette. The pairing of ingredients and flavors in the dishes aren’t surprising or intriguing in any way, but they are certainly done with great attention to detail and the end result is a big thumbs up.

If you live or work nearby and are thinking of a comfortable, decent place for lunch or dinner with a friend, La Baguette is definitely a good choice.
