W52 ITALIAN RESTAURANT
This sophisticated Italian restaurant has a bar on the ground floor with creamy high chairs and an outdoor garden area for smokers. It's a great after work drink spot as it's a little tucked away from the other noisier venues on Wyndham Street. Try the assorted bruschettas and the baked ravioli bites if your just want snacks. The Fig Pirinha cocktail comes highly recommended.
The elegantly appointed restaurant spans three floors. The first two floors have the same groovy wall pattern and white linen on the tables but each level has a different color scheme. Each floor has tables in the front which look out onto Wyndham street, or you can reserve the one outdoor table (one on each floor) which looks right onto the Dragon-I entrance. The top floor is reserved for small parties (up to 8 people) that want to sample the chef's specialties. There is no menu, you just tell the chef what you don't eat and he will come up with some a delightful menu tailormade for your party.
There are handmade pasta dishes, roast meats and seafood dishes. Their signature appetizer is sweetbread and prawn crepinette in a shell fish sauce or try the beef carpaccio. They have main courses which include a half Bresse chicken prepared in three ways and sea bass tortellini with dry martini, tomatoes and caramelized orange peel. Chef Ernesto Tonnetto formerly of Va Bene fame uses fresh and simple ingredients to create his Italian fare. Round that all off with a good selection of Italian wines.
The front sections of each of the floors are available for private parties. On weekends, special DJs come and spin at the bar.
