DADDY O'S
Daddy O’s is a corner pizzeria on Staunton Street in Soho. The words corner shop and pizzeria immediately establish it as a friendly, all-day sort of restaurant, good for everything from hanging out, an afternoon with friends, or pre and post-drinks pizza. Opened in 2007, this pizzeria is not Italian, but American!
A cozy little shop, Daddy O’s has only about 20 seats; and the décor is clean, fresh and practical with large glass store front, excellent for people watching, and wooden tables that you won’t feel too bad dropping pizza or spilling coke on.
A blackboard out front gives you an idea of the specials of the day, but its only when you appraise the menu that you realize how much more an American-style palate can add to Italian pizzas. First up are the obligatory spicy wings, then pizza toppings of a variety that can make you dizzy. For relatively tame tastes there mushrooms and pepperoni, but there’s also Clam Chowder for the more adventurous. Pizzas are generally thicker than their Italian cousins, but this is made up for by the generous toppings.
At excellent prices for Soho in Central, Daddy O’s also serves satisfying portions of pasta, onion rings and Caesar salad; and even the dressing on the salad is guilt-inducing-ly rich and abundant.
While its definitely not the place to go to stay true to your diet vows, Daddy O’s will give you all the comforts that food, friends and a chill meal out can offer.
