THE CAVERN

For Lan Kwai Fong, this bar/live music venue is rather large. There’s a fantastic outdoor area in front with views onto the madness of Lan Kwai Fong. As you enter there’s a convenient bar and there’s also another bar in the middle of the place. There’s a private-ish back area and a large dance floor facing the raised stage. They usually have Filipino bands playing cover tunes and some of the bands are rather good. In fact, this is where Arnel Pineda, lead singer of Journey, used to sing before he hit the bigtime.

The crowd can sometimes be full of 20 somethings, but sometimes it’s full of older men b y themselves or in groups and the scene is almost Wanchai-esque. A lot of tourists drop in and there’s a contingent of pretty little Asian girls (well, at least they’re are pretty once you have your beer-goggles on).  

The layout of the bar is conducive to having fun and socializing. Sometimes people really cut loose on the dance-floor. It can be quite comical.
