Volar is "too-cool-for-skool". This nightclub is crawling with models (mostly of the Eastern European variety), modelizers and sub-21 hot hong kong things. While ‘cold’ is a good way to describe the enormous bouncers at the door ‘cool’ (in a literal sense) is a good way to describe the décor of the club. This somewhat futuristic club is predominantly white, silver and black. There’s a rectangular room in the front with a stage and dancefloor and there’s a tiny VIP section which they sometimes rope off. Pass through some chainmail curtains, and you will arrive in a lounge area which has several circular leather couches. This is generally an area reserved for those buying bottles. Another fun feature of the club are the white carousel horses which are scattered about and add a carnival-like atmosphere to the club. People aren't technically allowed to get on the horses, but from time to time some drunk girl will do mount one of the plastic studs and do a grind show on one of them.

Volar has many theme nights and special parties hosted by magazines, liquor companies or fashion brands. Music is important at Volar and they feature several resident DJs as well as bringing in many guest DJs from Europe and overseas. The main room usually features hard electronica while the back room is more chilled out and mostly plays hip-hop.

The door policy at Volar is tight. It’s pretty tough to get in unless you're fit the requisite beauty standards /cool factor/ status standards, or unless you can drop the right name.The young crowd is not overly friendly, unless of course, you already know everyone. If you're as old as the stones (like ohmygod! you're 35!) don't bother coming here unless you're trolling for jailbait.
