CRISTAL BAR

Cristal Bar- On the 9th floor of the cyber-looking building called ‘The Loop’ on Wellington street is a funky new hangout called the Cristal bar. The Cristal bar is thus named because it has hundreds of lit-up pin-like crystals under the long glass bar.

Another of the defining features of the bar is the surreal wallpaper which is plastered in different colors throughout the narrow space. There are also white leather banquettes and white bubble plastic chairs. The most social part of the bar is probably the small outdoor terrace where you can easily mix and mingle with the smoking crowd. You can even see your reflections across the way at the adjacent building. Since it’s on the ninth floor you have a Blade-Runner style view of Lyndhurst Terrace, Wellington Street and the surrounding buildings.

It’s hard to say right now what kind of crowd the bar will attract, but last time we were there, it was an arty music crowd and guitar player Jose Gonzalez was there with people from Channel V. It’s not a bad venue to throw small get-togethers like birthday parties and it’s a good place to take a date or groups of people for a chilled drink.
