Tivo is a fabulous little bar on Hong Kong's hottest new social strip- Wyndham street. The decor of Tivo is modern, sexy and original.
The front of the bar has floor-to ceiling windows which are perfect for "seeing and being seen". Little round tables surrounded by fur covered stools are at the entrance and as you walk to the back, you'll find banquette seating lining the walls. The bar itself is right in the middle of the establishment giving you handy access to the bartenders when your drink has gone dry.
The walls feature boxy wood carvings with atmospheric backlighting. This is juxtaposed by Asian-inspired lanterns hanging in an asymetrical pattern from the ceiling. Tivo glows with candlelight and a brillant ambient lighting scheme. Though small, Tivo even has a really cool laser light system!
In one miniscule corner of the bar is the DJ booth where rocking DJs spin house and electro. The music is fantastic and there are sometimes guest bongo players. Strangely, no one really dances here, but perhaps it's due to space constraints.
Tivo attracts an upscale expat crowd of differening ages. Every time you go there, it's a different crowd, but everyone is pretty stylish and generally hip. The layout of Tivo inspires social activity. It's not one of those static places where you only end up hanging out with the people you came with. Tivo's proximity to Dragon-I and Lan Kwai Fong makes it a good all-around starting point for the evening, however sometimes you end up having so much fun there, you'll find it hard to leave. This is our top pick for Wydham street people- watching.
