EXECUTIVE BAR
This sophisticated bar is on the 27th floor of a building in Causeway Bay. The small venue has simple décor- black leather chairs, dark wood walls and a view of the neon lights of Causeway Bay skyline. Though location is off the beaten path, Executive Bar draws a crowd of regulars- mostly scotch connoisseurs, cigar smokers and martini drinkers.
What makes this watering hole unique is that each cocktail is meticulously crafted by Ichiro- the owner of the bar. Watching Ichiro make a ceremony out of the mixing of the beverages is fascinating. There are dozens of fine international scotches to choose from. Ichiro even hand-picks the ice himself so they are shaped like baseballs. He does this because regular ice cubes melt quickly thus ruining the integrity of the flavor of the scotch. The martinis are perfect and in case you get the munchies, you can order a plate of Jamon Iberico, imported directly from Spain. There’s an entire ham leg which gets sliced before your eyes into perfectly thin pieces. It’s just the right balance of salty and sweet to compliment your drink.
The crowd is part Japanese, part banker and elegantly low-key. This is a great date bar or a good place to take a small group of friends or business clients. It’s also the perfect place to go when you’re searching for a really good cocktail to go with you cigar. FYI- you must bring your own cigars as they don’t sell them there.
