THE MELTING POT

This medium sized-live music venue located in a basement on Elgin street has a great neighborhood vibe and a devoted group of regular musicians and patrons. The venue is L-shaped with a bar to the left as you enter, a DJ booth and a stage facing a decent-sized dance floor. There’s also a seating enclave in the back. All along the right wall are stools and banquettes that face the stage. Whilst the décor of the venue is non-descript- black walls and wood floors- the layout of the bar is excellent and highly conducive to mingling and dancing. Oftentimes the house band will invite their friends- or even you! to get up and do a jam session with them It’s the energy and enthusiasm of the crowd that makes the place fun. In fact the owner, an older Dutch lady, started The Melting Pot chain when she lived in China. The concept was that music brings people from all around the world together hence the name- Melting Pot.
