STEFAN STRUMBEL "HEIMAT" SHOW OPENING @ UFOARTGALLERY

"What the fuck is actually home, or why does the cuckoo clock end up on an Egyptian housing development?" says the featured artist Stefan Strumbel.

Heimat is a German word that has no simple English translation. It is often expressed with terms such as home or homeland, but these English counterparts fail to encapsulate centuries of German consciousness and the thousands of connections this quintessential aspect of German identity carries with it.

Stefan Strumbel interprets "HEIMAT" in his own way, with the creation of cuckoo clocks in which traditions meet Pop Art. Urban lifestyle implicates the preservation of historical heritage and to find new perspectives aside from familiar paths.

Born and raised in the surrounding traditional black forest countryside Stefan Strumbel was affected by the rural environment. Apart from this fact he developed his own aesthetic sense by traveling and working in international cities.
