LET'S SPA
The humid Hong Kong summer clogging your pores? Why not go for a facial at the groovy new Let’s Spa in Wanchai? Let’s Spa is a small boutique spa that offers facials, body and foot massages and many other relaxing treatments. The spa welcomes women, couples and has alot of male clientele as well- so men- don't be afraid to treat yourselves! They have special rates for first- timers and the prices are reasonable.
The spa itself has several different treatment zones. There are 5 treatment rooms all with different types of natural, futuristic or soothing décor. You can even book your preferred treatment room in advance! Let's Spa is a great place to relax with your better half on an anniversary date or a special occasion. They have 2 treatment rooms especially for couples. One has live plants covering an entire wall- great for taking in more oxygen! There’s also a comfortable area with loungers and private televisions. You can hang out here pre or post treatment or you can choose to have your foot massage here.
Even the names of the treatments are cheeky and quirky- ‘The Hush Hush quickie treatment’ ’The Royal Release’ ‘Ancient Oriental Footsie’ Yes- the spa is in Wanchai, but no, despite the suggestive treatment names, they do not offer happy endings!
ELEMENTS MALL
No really- Kowloon is not ‘The Dark Side’ (as island residents like to refer to it). The shiny and new Elements mall is really just under 10 minutes away and one stop away on the train! This one million square foot complex is designed by world-renowned Benoy and subtly themed after the five Chinese elements. There are loads of restaurants to choose from- including the ones at the W boutique hotel. There’s also an ice skating rink for the kiddies, one the best and biggest bookstores in Hong Kong (Metro books) and the cushiest movie theater in Hong Kong- The Grand Cinema. Don’t forget to check out the VIP screening room with lazy boy chairs that practically recline into a bed! We've also heard that the seats vibrate and that there's a wicked sound system. We reckon it’s the best cinema in Hong Kong to watch an action flick.

As a resident of The Harbour Side, which is located above the Elements Mall, all I have to say is that the ones who call Kowloon "the dark side" are missing out on a lot of good stuff. I am only 10 minutes from Central and have the post-card view of Victoria Harbour right in front of me. Plus, I have the option to experience the craziness of Central whenever I want, and also to enjoy the calmness of the Elements Mall. To all of you from the other side, I invite you to follow Lara's advice and check out the Elements Mall. It's hip, it's sophisticated and it offers a lot more than you can imagine!
