Hair Testing at the Mandarin Oriental

As part of its commitment to total well-being, the Mandarin Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has launched a new hair test that can identify toxic metals and mineral imbalances in the body.
Priced at HK$1,600 the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis uses a small sample of hair which is sent to a laboratory for examination. Test results can highlight the body's nutrient levels, as well as identify some toxins that may be present in the body.
Observes Spa Director Lynsey Hughes, "The introduction of this test complements the Mandarin Spa's already extensive range of treatments, and provides our guests with another exceptional health and wellness experience. Hair analysis is a simple, cost-effective and non-invasive method of highlighting potential problems that may be caused by pollution and other elements. The Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis test also gives an overall view of mineral balance within the body.
Test results are discussed with a trained nutritionist who can provide further explanation and advice on diet and lifestyle. In addition, each guest receives a personalised booklet to take home that summarises all recommendations.
About the test:
A small amount of hair from three different places on the scalp is removed and subjected to analysis in an advanced USA-based laboratory. The results are returned within 10 days and presented by a consultant nutritionist in
chart form showing nutrient levels, toxicity levels and significant ratios of elements such as calcium.
