Vero Chocolate Lounge
This is ‘the’ place for individuals with issues involving chocolate - be it compulsion, addiction or obsession. The people behind it all mean business - they get right to the point - the signature cake is called... Signature, so is the chocolate drink, made of 70% chocolate. Divine! Everything from the muffins to the ‘very premium’ brownies are carefully crafted. This is the perfect place to get your chocolate fix and the rich creamy dessert is sweetened even further by the panoramic view.

Awfully Chocolate
The name alone could probably summon a small, helpless groan from the stomach. The range of items on offer is not that varied - but is enough to cure any chocoholic’s cravings. They play on three variations of the chocolate fudge cake - the All Chocolate, the Chocolate Banana, and the Chocolate Rum And Cherry. They also serve up their signature ice cream - the ‘hei’ (or ‘black’) ice cream. There’s something so indulgently sinful about the shop that one isn’t surprised it’s named “Awfully Chocolate”.

Coco @ Mira
Another hotel option on the other side of the harbor is Coco - a sleek and modern venue that claims to be the home to some of the town’s best chocolate bricks and cupcakes. Situated in the midst of the busy lobby, Coco offers respite for the tired traveler. Sample some sweet offerings like the apple crumble pie and raspberry dome cakes. For the fun-loving snacker we recommend the marshmallow mille feuille, the Coconut Green cake or a seductively dressed cupcake. This is a place that knows how to satisfy the international sweet tooth.

Godiva is probably Hong Kong’s most famous chocolatier. The pralines are always a safe place to start. The chocolate drink with extra whipped cream is a chocolate lover’s dream. Then there’s the giant chocolate strawberry – a scrumptious luxury that will compel you to close your eyes and taste every single nuance of cocoa-covered fruit gliding through your palate. Agnes B
A name automatically associated with a line of simple, innocent... French ready-to-wear, the chocolates that bear its engravings are equally simple as a solution to one’s chocolate cravings. Even as one walks into an Agnes b Delices boutique, one feels an immediate sense of calm in the midst of its creamy wooden decor. The pralines and truffles are no fuss - made from the best ingredients and born to make people happy. What’s really tempting as well is their beautifully wrapped chocolate bars and dipped chips. You can also fill a box with various nuggets of flavored chocolates ranging from milk to dark chocolate. The box chocolates even have a chic French-inspired design. Agnes b never fails to delight.

Teuscher – Chocolates of Switzerland
Tucked away in a corner of IFC you’d be forgiven for not noticing Teuscher. The shop itself is tiny – more of a counter than a shop really… but Teuscher punches well above it’s weight. This delectable chocolate is free of artificial ingredients and preservatives and the high cocoa butter content means that the chocolate is exceptionally smooth. It’s also flown in weekly from Switzerland so is fresh fresh fresh. They are internationally renowned for their champagne truffles which were created by Adolf Teuscher Snr in 1947. According to them the “initial taste is the taste of sugar sweetness, followed by a strong milk chocolate flavour mixed with the soft dark ganache and finally with the sweet tones of French Champagne.” What a treat!

Maison Du Chocolat
Maison Du Chocolat first rose to fame for their delicate but delicious ganaches. The milk chocolate Sylvia with a subtle hint of caramel is to die for. Also worth a try is their new Garrigue collection, inspired by the tastes of Provence. A personal favourite from this collection is the lemon zest infused Limone ganache. If you’re really looking to spoil yourself may I also suggest Maison Du Chocolat’s chocolate éclair, filled with a rich and fluffy chocolate cream. They are handmade daily and contain no artificial ingredients. To give you an idea of just how much this chocolatier cares about it’s produce, each purchase is packaged in a protective cooler bag so there is no danger of spoiling your treat in the Hong Kong heat.
Available in Pacific Place, Elements, IFC and the Prince’s Building.
